Fair point, although I think it is fundamental to have reality converge on some level to your ideas of reality. The more divergence there is, the more epistemological uncertainty you experience.

It's true that a good story allows for variability, but the problem is that most people are inherently averse to this variability. People usually prefer to stick to closed stories. I think this is one reason why propaganda is so effective..
